Indonesia Cave Exploration
Beside of teaching scuba diving, we are avid cave divers who has been exploring the caves around Indonesia since 2023. We recently discover caves around Banggai Kepulauan Sulawesi Tengah, Maratua East Kalimantan, and Biak Papua

Goa Susundeng
Banggai Kepulauan, Indonesia
Our first exploration was Goa Susundeng, located on Pandaluk Village, Banggai Kepulauan, Sulawesi Tengah. We discovered at September 28, 2023 collaborated with Rock n Roll Divers Buton, Oceana Luwuk, and Pulau Peling Dive Club Team. The profile of the cave is sinkhole and continued with the cavern area with depth of 8 m then super big chamber with depth of 20 m, and stucked at the end of the line around 300 m penetration with depth of 39m
Goa Leeng
Banggai Kepulauan, Indonesia
Located on another village inside Peling island, Le'eng was very wonderful decorated with stalactites, stalagmites, and even more fossils of sea creatures. The bad news is, Le'eng is not accesible to be dived because of the terrain is very challenging to carry the logistics from the basecamp. Le'eng is located higher than the village and it can be the big reservoir of fresh water source to the villages

Bubung Babasal
Banggai Kepulauan, Indonesia
Bubung Babasal is undoubtly a sinkhole formed by the debris of cave formation and has sulfide layers since it is located inside the forest. After diving into the sulfide layers, you will find salt water under it. To access the cave, you need special tools of SRT and harness to carry the divers and the tanks. The depth of the cave is around 37 m and it supposed to be connected to the sea
Liang Malopo
Banggai Kepulauan, Indonesia
Liang Malopo is an underground river which is formed by the cave. We can easily dive in dry season better than in rainy season due to the water outflow which will push you out from the cave. It can be used as the fresh water source for the village. But the disaster mitigation is needed to be conducted since the houses above the underground river could be collapsed at anytime

Goa Serumi
Biak Regency, Papua
Goa serumi is originally the fresh water cave that supplies fresh water to the surrounding. It is located not too far from the ocean. There must be conduit from the sea, that some fishes can be trapped inside the cave. The cave itself is also made by fossilized corals which are freshly from the sea.
